Charging
- Park the vehicle and chock the tires.
- Set the park brake and put the vehicle in neutral.
- Open the charge port access cover as shown in Fig..
- If the inlets are protected with doors, press the latches in the direction of the
arrows to open the doors.
- Examine the charge port inlets for damage. See Fig. . If damage is present, do NOT attempt to charge the vehicle. Take the vehicle to an authorized Freightliner dealer for repair.
- Verify the inlet status lamp is illuminated white, indicating that it is unlocked.
- Follow directions on the charge dispenser screen about payment or identity verification needed to start the charging process.
- Remove the coupler from the charge dispenser.
- Examine the coupler for damage. See Fig. . Do not use the coupler if damage is present.
- Plug the coupler into the charge port inlet until fully engaged, indicated by an audible
click.
When the coupler engages, the stop charging button illuminates, and the inlet status lamp and the inlet lock lamp go out.
As a connection is being established between the charger and the vehicle, the charging status lamp and the battery charging lamp pulse orange.
When the connection is made and charging of the high-voltage batteries begins, the charging status lamp and the battery charging lamp pulse green.
- When the vehicle is finished charging, the high-voltage batteries have either charged
to 100 percent or reached the target state of charge, the charging status lamp and
battery charging lamp illuminate a steady green.
If charging with the keyswitch OFF, both the charging status and battery charging lamps on the charging port turn off; if charging with the keyswitch ON, both lamps stay on.
- When charging is complete, press the coupler's top latch button and remove the charging
coupler from the vehicle inlet before releasing the park brake. If the park brake
is released prematurely, a warning window appears on the driver display and a continuous
chime sounds until the issue is resolved. The dash label, shown in Fig., is a reminder to unplug the charging cable before releasing the park brake.

Press the stop charging button to stop charging and automatically unlock the inlet.

Select the stop charging option on the charge dispenser to stop charging and unlock the inlet.

Press the coupler's top latch button to stop charging; then press the stop charging button.

Lock and unlock the cab door to unlock the inlet.

- Install the charging inlet plugs if equipped, or latch the inlet doors and close the
charge port cover.
