Inspection of the Air Compressor
Inspection
of the Air Compressor
Note: Because
the air compressor facilitates air, lubricating oil, and coolant flow,
a failed air compressor could result in contamination between these
three fluids. When failed, an air compressor can produce excessive
crankcase pressure or allow an engine to ingest lubricating oil.
The air compressor incorporates three of the major systems of a diesel engine (air, lubrication, and cooling). Inspect the air compressor looking for air, oil, and coolant leaks.
