EPA07 Aftertreatment Device

EPA07 Aftertreatment Device - Ops

In order to meet EPA07 emissions regulations, the traditional muffler was replaced by a new Aftertreatment Device (ATD). The EPA07 ATD consists of a Diesel Oxidation Catalyst (DOC) and a Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF). Together, these two components burn off collected particulate matter in a process called "regeneration." The key to successful regeneration is high exhaust temperature for an extended period of time. Without adequate temperatures for regeneration, the filter will continue to trap particulate and eventually plug. In order to avoid plugging, Detroit™ has designed an actively-regenerated ATD.
