Fan Clutch Check (Noise Emission Control)

57X mm 20.03.001
Radiator Fan
  1. Confirm the engine-driven radiator fan is not improperly running at full engagement. Some factors that could cause a correctly functioning fan to engage are listed below. Make sure none of these affect the inspection.
    1. Low air system pressure.
    2. Air conditioning requested (main or auxiliary systems).
    3. Engine coolant is above the fan switch point at 212°F (100°C).
    4. Power take off (PTO) or other auxiliary systems are engaged.
  2. Note: If the radiator fan is not cycling off, or if the shroud is missing or incomplete, the vehicle may be out of compliance with federal noise emissions.

  3. Shut down the engine and inspect the fan shroud for damage.
  4. Note the results and date on the inspection log.
