When the ignition is active, the smart key fob is within range of the start authorization antenna, the engine is not running, the service brake pedal is not depressed, and the START/STOP ENGINE button is pressed for more than 1 second, 'Press Brake to Start' will display in the instrument cluster. This alerts the driver of the action required to start the vehicle.
The driver must release the START/STOP ENGINE button and depress the service brake pedal before pressing the START/STOP ENGINE button again to start the vehicle.
