General Information

Allison five- and six-speed automatic transmissions have six or seven shift positions on the selector lever. The selector lever is lighted for night driving. Each forward shift position provides a range of forward gears that are selected automatically according to the speed of the vehicle, engine temperature, and throttle position. The 1000 Series, 2000 Series, and 3000 Series are fully automatic transmissions.
