Inspection of the Radiator

Inspection of the Radiator - Ops - DD5

Inspect the radiator as follows:

  1. Inspect the exterior of the radiator core every 30,000 miles (50,000 km) or 12 months.
  2. Warning: EYE INJURY

To avoid injury from flying debris when using compressed air, wear adequate eye protection (face shield or safety goggles) and do not exceed 276 kPa (40 psi) air pressure.

Note: It may be necessary to clean the exterior of the radiator more frequently if the engine is being operated in extremely dusty or dirty areas.
  3. If necessary, clean the exterior using a quality grease solvent, such as mineral spirits, and dry with compressed air. Do not use fuel oil, kerosene, or gasoline.
  4. If the low coolant level sensor is installed in the top tank of the radiator, test for proper operation every 100,000 miles (160,000 km) or 12 months, whichever comes first. Authorized Detroit™ distributors are properly equipped to perform this service.
