  1. Disconnect the batteries at the negative terminals. Drain all air from the air system.

    2. Note: The Borg Warner Service Alert Tool is available at no cost. To get one, contact your Borg Warner representative.

    If the tool is not available, use a 0.062-inch (1.57mm) feeler gauge to check the clutch wear.

  2. Using the Borg Warner Service Alert Tool, check the clutch wear as shown in Fig. , and Fig. .
    If the tool is sitting below the retainer plate, the fan clutch liner has remaining life.
    If the tool is sitting above the retainer plate, replace the fan clutch liner.

    Note: With the fan clutch engaged, check the remaining life in the clutch liner.

  3. Connect the battery cables.
  4. Start the engine, and check for air leaks. Repair as needed.
