Auto Neutral Feature
Warning: Do not leave the driver’s seat without placing the shift stalk lever in the neutral position and applying the parking brake. Failure to do so could cause property damage and personal injury.
The auto neutral feature allows the transmission to shift out of gear, and gives visual and audible warnings to indicate pending and completed shifts. After being stopped with the engine idling, and the direction switch in drive or reverse, the warning buzzer sounds and the gear position display will show a flashing N, indicating an impending shift to neutral. Once neutral is achieved, a second short activation of the warning buzzer indicates the transmission is now in neutral.
Warning: If the transmission does not completely switch to neutral before engine shutdown, the engine will not restart until the transmission can complete the shift to neutral.
If the engine is turned off while the transmission is in gear, the display will flash 'Shift Into Neutral', and a long activation of the warning buzzer indicates the transmission has tried to shift into neutral during the shutdown process. It is possible the transmission was not able to achieve a neutral gear position, and the driver should turn the ignition back on to confirm the transmission is not still in gear. See Table. for conditions and indicators that the driver may experience.
