Power Distribution, EPA10 and Newer

There are three standard power distribution modules (PDMs) on vehicles that are compliant with EPA10 and newer regulations: the powernet distribution box (PNDB), the powertrain power distribution module (PTPDM), and the dash electrical panel.

Vehicles may also be equipped with an auxiliary powernet distribution box (Aux PNDB).

See Fig. for the typical locations of the power distribution boxes located in the engine compartment.

Important: The covers on the under-hood PDM units must be in place to protect against water splash and dust intrusion.

The PNDB houses up to three MIDI fuses and four ATO fuses. A label on the cover of the PNDB identifies the fuses.

The PTPDM houses many of the fuses and relays for the engine, transmission, and aftertreatment system (ATS). There is a label on the cover of the powertrain PTPDM identifying the fuses and relays.

If equipped, an Aux PNDB may source power to any of the following:

  • fleet management communications

  • trailer end-of-frame connection

  • shore power inverter

  • bodybuilder PDM (housing any fuses and relays necessary for customer-installed truck body equipment)

The dash electrical panel is located inboard of the passenger-side glove box. Access to the panel is achieved by removing the four screws located in each corner of the panel cover. See Fig.. A decal showing the layout of the fuses, breakers, and relays is on the back of the panel cover. See Fig..
