Aftertreatment Systems - Gen 5 DD15 - Ops - #7628

Detroit™ Gen 5 Heavy Duty engines are equipped with the second generation of the Global Aftertreatment System (GATS 2.0). The function of the Aftertreatment System (ATS) is to reduce emisson levels in the engine exhaust. Mounted onto the ATS are eight sensors, a Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) doser, and an Aftertreatment Control Module (ACM). The sensors monitor various temperatures, pressures and levels within the ATS. The DEF doser measures DEF pressure and injects DEF into the ATS when needed. The ACM controls the functions and analyzes the data of the ATS electronic components by means of the ATS wiring harness. For information on performing a parked DPF regeneration, How to Perform a Parked Regeneration.

Proper maintenance of the ATS is essential to ensure the engine continues to comply with applicable emissions standards. For a listing of required service intervals Preventive Maintenance Tables.
