Inspection of the Fuel System
Inspection of the Fuel System - Gen 5 DD15
- Ops - #7628
The fuel system should be inspected periodically. A good practice is to include the fuel system inspection as part of the pre-start inspection.
Inspect the fuel and fuel tanks as follows:
- Inspect all engine-mounted lines and connections for leaks.
- Visually inspect the fuel tank suction and return lines. Check for an accumulation of fuel under the tank.
- The water/sediment at the bottom of the fuel tank should
be serviced as recommended in the maintenance tables using the appropriate
engine duty cycle, Preventive Maintenance
Tables.
- The fuel tank mounts should be inspected as recommended in the for the appropriate engine duty cycle, Preventive Maintenance Tables.
Notice: Keep the fuel tank filled to reduce condensation. Before
adding fuel, How to Select Fuel. Condensation formed in a partially filled tank promotes the growth
of microorganisms that can clog fuel filters and restrict fuel flow.
Note: If any of the above conditions
exist, it may be necessary to take the vehicle to an authorized Detroit™
service outlet.
