Lubricating Oil and Filter

Detroit™ Gen 5 Heavy Duty engines are equipped with a single cartridge-style oil filter that is part of the oil coolant module. Incorporated into the module is a drain back port which allows residual oil to be returned to the oil pan when the filter is removed. This design, including the cartridge-style element, allows for a more environmentally safe oil change. The lubricating oil and filter should be replaced per the maintenance intervals, Preventive Maintenance Tables.
