Checking the Crankcase - Ops
Check the crankcase as follows:
- If the engine oil was replaced, stop the engine after normal operating temperature has been reached. Allow the oil to drain back into the crankcase for about 60 minutes, then check the oil level.
- If necessary,
add no more oil than 5.0 L (5.2 qt) at a time to bring the level to
the proper mark on the dipstick. Use only the heavy-duty oils recommended
in the "How to Replace the Lubricating Oil and Oil Filter" section
in this manual.
Notice: Do not add oil if the
oil reading is in the crosshatch area. There are approximately 5.0
L (5.2 qt) from the fill mark to the full mark. Overfilling the oil
pan can cause engine damage.
