Important: In order for the forward facing camera to operate properly, the windshield area in front of the camera must be clean, unobstructed, and not be damaged in any way.

SafeyDirect by Bendix is a fleet management system that automatically records ten to twenty seconds of video during a safety event, and delivers it and other vehicle safety data to the Bendix SafetyDirect portal. An optional Bendix forward facing 5G camera that works in tandem with the Detroit Assurance MPC2 camera is an available option. If equipped, the Bendix camera appears as as shown, see Fig..

The Bendix Safety Direct system integrated with Detroit Assurance is configured to record videos and event data for the following events:

  • lane departure warning;

  • loss of video tracking;

  • collision mitigation braking;

  • excessive braking;

  • excessive speed on curves;

  • electronic-stability control braking;

  • rollover-stability control braking.

The driver can manually trigger an event recording at any time. Press and hold the lane-departure warning (LDL) Enable/Disable rocker switch in the dash until an audible alert from the instrument cluster (a single beep) is heard, to indicate that the event has successfully been captured by the SafetyDirect ECU.

Other supported events that do not include a video record can be viewed on the SafetyDirect portal by going to Dashboards/Event Dashboard then unchecking the 'Events with Video' check box.
