Replacement of the Key Fob Battery
Danger: Do not ingest the key fob battery. The button cell battery in this key fob is a chemical burn hazard.
Always keep the key fob and button cell batteries away from children.
Always safely dispose of used batteries.
If the button cell battery in this key fob is swallowed, it can cause severe internal burns within two hours and can lead to death. If you think a battery might have been swallowed or otherwise placed inside any part of the body, seek immediate medical attention.
If the battery compartment does not close securely, stop using the key fob.
Warning: Failure to observe the following safety instructions can result in an explosion, fire, damage to the key fob, electric shock and other injuries, as well as property damage:

Do not try to charge the key fob battery. It is not rechargeable.

The key fob housing is made of plastic with sensitive electronic components and a CR2032 button cell battery. There is a risk of explosion if the battery is replaced with a battery other than a CR2032.

The button cell battery that powers this device is considered hazardous and must be recycled or disposed of separately from household waste. Store the old battery in a safe place until it can be disposed of safely.
You will need a flat surface, a CR2032 replacement button battery, and a 5/32 inch (4mm) flat screwdriver or similar tool to replace the key fob battery.
- Remove the key fob from the key ring.
- Hold the fob with the opening for the key ring upwards and carefully insert the flat end of the screwdriver on one side of key fob as shown in Fig.. Twist the end of the screwdriver to pry the two halves apart.
- Move the end of the screwdriver to the other side of the top of the fob and pry that side apart.
- Use your fingers to separate the two pieces of the fob.
- Lay the side of the fob with the battery flat on the table
and insert the end of the screwdriver underneath the top of the battery
to gently lift it out. See Fig.. Dispose of the used battery safely according to local regulations.
- Insert the new battery with the + side down and the blank
side up as shown in Fig.. The bottom edge of the battery must be inserted toward the bottom of the key fob, pressing open the metal cradle to create space for it to slip into place.
- Align the hooked tag on the bottom edge of the circuit
board side of the fob with the matching recess on the other side of
the fob as shown in Fig.. Press the two
sides of the fob together working from the bottom toward the top.The two halves may need some adjustment to snap into place.
- Verify the fob is fully and completely closed as shown in Fig..
- Attach the key fob to the key ring.
Important: If the fob will not close completely and securely, open it and try again. If it is not possible to securely close the fob, stop using it. An unsecured button battery is hazardous. Safely dispose of the defective battery and fob according to local regulations and order a new fob at an authorised Freightliner dealership.
