mm 83.02
The HVAC system has three filters that must be replaced periodically to maintain proper system operation. The cabin fresh-air-intake filter is accessed from under the hood, and the recirculation filter is accessed from inside the cab. The sleeper air filter is accessed through an access panel on the cabinet behind the driver's seat.
- Park the vehicle on a level surface, shut down the engine, and set the parking brake. Chock the tires.
- Open the hood.
- Remove the intake screen. See Fig..
- Lightly press on the filter tray handle to disengage the lock (see Fig.), and slide the tray out of the slot in the plenum.
- Remove the filter from the tray. Note the airflow directional arrow on the filter's edge. When properly installed, the airflow arrow will point in the same direction as the marking on the front edge of the tray. Both will point toward the cab.See Fig..
- Put a new filter in the slot, making sure the airflow arrow is correctly oriented, and install the access panel. Make sure the access panel locks into position.
- Install the intake screen.
- Return the hood to the operating position.
Important: When replacing the air filter, use only a Freightliner-approved air filter.
