Replacement of the Sleeper Air Filter

In vehicles with 60-inch and 72-inch sleepers, the sleeper air filter is located on the forward side of the blower fan housing, under the cabinet, directly behind the driver's seat. In vehicles with 36-inch and 48-inch sleepers, the sleeper air filter is located on the forward side of the blower fan housing, under the L/H side of the sleeper bunk.

    Important: When replacing the air filter, use only a Western Star-approved air filter.

  1. Park the vehicle on a level surface, set the parking brake, and shut down the engine. Chock the tires.
  2. In vehicles with 60-inch and 72-inch sleepers, open the L/H lower cabinet door and remove carpet inside the cabinet. See Fig.. In vehicles with 36-inch and 48-inch sleepers, raise the lower bunk, and lift to remove the HVAC cover panel. See Fig. and Fig.

  3. Lift the filter out of the slot. See Fig..
  4. Lift the filter out of the slot. See Fig. for 60- and 72-inch sleepers, or Fig. for 48-inch sleepers.

  5. Install a new filter in the slot, making sure that it is completely seated in the slot.
  6. Install the carpet. Close the cabinet door in vehicles with 60-inch and 72-inch sleepers.
  7. Install the HVAC cover panels and close the bunks for 36-inch and 48-inch sleepers.
