Replacement of the Cab Recirculation Air Filter, Blend Air

The cab recirculation air filter must be replaced every six months, regardless of mileage, to permit proper operation of the HVAC system.
Caution: If the recirculation air filter is not replaced every six months, damage to the heater and air conditioner components could occur. The HVAC system should not be operated without the recirculation air filter installed.
Important: When replacing the air filter, use only a Freightliner-approved air filter.
- Park the vehicle on a level surface. Apply the parking brakes and chock the rear tires.
- Remove the heater and air conditioner cover and the upper dash cover. For instructions, see of the Century Class Trucks Workshop Manual.
- Remove the retainer that holds the recirculation air filter in place. See Fig..
- Remove and discard the recirculation air filter.
- Install a new recirculation air filter in the HVAC assembly.
- Install the retainer to hold the recirculation air filter in place.
- Install the heater and air conditioner cover and the upper dash cover. For instructions, see of the Century Class Trucks Workshop Manual.
