General Information
SGA provides assistance on the passenger-side of the vehicle while turning and changing lanes. SGA monitors the area on the passenger-side of the vehicle using two short range radar sensors. The radar sensors are mounted close to the rear of the passenger footsteps. See Fig. . The optional enhancement, ASGA, enables the brakes to automatically activate in certain low-speed passenger-side turns.
A triangular warning lamp in the A-pillar is located near the side mirror. This lamp, as shown in Fig. , lights up to inform the driver that an object is detected in the monitored area. An additional warning tone sounds if there is a risk of collision.
As an object is assessed, the system alerts with an amber caution triangle. If there is a risk of collision, the color changes to red and a warning tone sounds. Under certain conditions while turning at urban speeds and there is a risk of collision with a moving pedestrian or bicyclist, the ASGA activates the brakes automatically.
