Towing Vehicle Combination Controls

The Intellipark system for a tractor-trailer combination has a yellow parking brake control, and a red trailer air supply control.

Towing Vehicle: Independent Trailer Operation

Intellipark allows the driver to set the trailer spring brakes independent of the towing vehicle. This feature allows operation of a towing vehicle as a bobtail, supports coupling and uncoupling operations, and allows trailer emergency braking control. Pulling the bottom of the red trailer air control applies the spring brakes on the trailer, with no change to the state of the towing vehicle. Pushing the bottom of the red trailer air control releases the spring brakes on the trailer, with no change to the towing vehicle.

Intellipark does not allow the trailer spring brakes to be released unless the ignition is on and the foot brake is applied. This feature is intended to mitigate the possibility of releasing the spring brakes on the trailer without a driver in control of the vehicle, while still allowing the trailer spring brakes to be released while the towing vehicle parking brake is set.

Bobtail Mode

Intellipark has a feature known as bobtail mode, that allows the driver to extinguish the two red LEDs on the trailer air supply control when driving without a trailer. To initiate, pull the bottom of the red trailer air supply control for a minimum of 3 seconds.
