Brake System Indicators and Messages

Telltales and messages appear on the driver display. The positions of the telltales vary, but most use standard symbols.

The colors of telltales indicate the hazard level as follows: red (warning), amber (caution), green (normal function), blue (active status), grey (passive status), white (informational).

Service Brake/Stop Light Malfunction

This telltale alerts the driver if the rear service brake lights are not illuminated when depressing the brake foot pedal.

    Park Brake Alert

    This telltale illuminates when the park brakes are set.

     

    Red

    Park Brake Air Low

    The air pressure in the park brake is low, which may cause the brakes to drag.

    Park Brake Engaged

    Indicates the park brake is engaged when the vehicle is moving faster than 2 mph (3 km/h).

    Always engage the park brake before exiting the vehicle.

    Red

    Engage Park Brake

    Indicated the park brake is not set and needs to be engaged.

    There is an optional horn warning that may sound if the park brake is not set and the doors are opened.

    Grey

    Open Door Park Brake Interlock

    Indicates that a door is open, preventing the park brake from being released.

    Disengaged Service Brake Park Brake Interlock

    Indicates that the service brake needs to be applied to release the park brake.

    Low Air Pressure Park Brake Interlock

    Indicates the air pressure in the brake system is too low to release the park brake.

    It may take a few minutes for the air pressure to build in the brake system, and pressing the service brake too soon can reduce air pressure.

    Ignition Must be on to Release Park Brake

    Indicates the ignition must be on to release the park brake.

    Rollaway Intervention Activated

    Rollaway Intervention Activated

    Pull the park brake switch to clear the warning pop-up.

    Red

    Rollaway Intervention Active due to Open Door

    Indicates the rollaway intervention feature is active due to an open door.

    Pull the park brake switch and close the open door to clear the warning pop-up.

    Red

    Rollaway Intervention Active due to Unoccupied Seat

    Indicates the rollaway intervention feature is active due to an unoccupied driver’s seat.

    Pull the park brake switch and sit in the driver’s seat to clear the warning pop-up.

    Red

    Brake System Malfunction

    Solid telltale.

    Indicates a failure in the Brake System or Air System.

    Stop the vehicle and call for service.

      Low Air Pressure Warning

      Indicates low brake system air pressure.

       

      Red

      Faulty Air Pressure Display

      Indicates an air pressure gauge is malfunctioning.

      Bring the vehicle to a safe stop and have the air system repaired before continuing.

      Low Brake Air Pressure

      Indicates air pressure in the primary or secondary reservoir has dropped below approximately 70 psi (483 kPa).

      Bring the vehicle to a safe stop and have the air system repaired before continuing.

      A buzzer will sound if the park brake is released, or the vehicle is moving when the air pressure has dropped below 70 psi (483 kPa).

        Automatic Traction Control (ATC) Active

        A flashing telltale lamp indicates a wheel spin event has been detected, and the ATC system is active.

         

        Amber

        Automatic Traction Control (ATC) Deactivated

        Indicates the ATC SPIN switch has been pressed to allow wheel slip.

        This telltale also appears if the system air pressure drops below the threshold (85 to 90 psi [586 to 621 kPa]). If pressing the switch does not reactivate ATC, wait for the system air pressure to recuperate and build.

        Press the switch again to activate ATC. If unsuccessful, wait for air pressure to rebuild and try again.

          Rollaway Intervention System Off

          Indicates the rollaway intervention system is turned off by the optional Anti-Rollaway Off Switch.

           

          Red

          Rollaway Intervention Fault

          Indicates a fault with the rollaway intervention system. If a fault with the system is detected, rollaway intervention is disabled.

          Take the vehicle to an authorized dealer for repair.

           

          Amber

          Maintenance Mode Active

          Rollaway Intervention System Disabled

          Indicates the electronic park brake rollaway intervention system has been disabled to access maintenance mode.

          Maintenance mode allows the tires to spin during maintenance procedures.
