Active Side Guard Assist Interaction and Activation with Active Lane Assist
ALA2 - Lane Change Assist (LCA) uses information from Side Guard Assist 2 (SGA2). When a driver wants to make a lane change and SGA2 detects a vehicle or road user in the way, LCA will help prevent the vehicle from merging into a side collision.
If ASGA detects an object on the side of the vehicle, the amber warning lamp in corner of the A-pillar mounted mirror cameras will remain illuminated until the side is clear. If the driver begins to merge while there is a vehicle or road user detected by ASGA, the steering system will provide some resistance. If the driver continues to ignore the warning and the steering resistance to merge, the driver will experience stronger steering resistance similar to that of LDP returning the vehicle back to the center of the lane and resume with normal driving.
While the steering system will provide resistance, the driver will always have the ability to override this feature.
