Mirror Camera System, General Overview
The Mirror Camera System (MCS) provides drivers with video footage of the sides of the vehicle in addition to the vehicle side mirrors. This video footage allows drivers to see a wider field of view, check the distance between other vehicles and the clearance at the end of the trailer, and have better perception during low-speed, low-light driving. The MCS also allows drivers to receive visual warnings regarding objects on the side of the vehicle, adjust the view of the mirrors and cameras, heat the external mirrors to defrost, and set the end of trailer line.
The MCS takes video footage from the cameras in the mirror camera arms, as shown in Fig. . It displays information on the liquid crystal display (LCD) screens on the A-pillars of the cab. See Fig. .
