SGA2 Warnings
Gen5Cas DM Ch 10.09.05
Important: SGA2 is only an aid. The system may fail
to detect some objects and does not substitute for attentive driving.
Always ensure that there is sufficient distance to the side for vehicles,
cyclists, pedestrians, and obstacles.
The scenarios shown in Table assume both SGA2 and Trailer Mointoring are active. If SGA2
is off in any of these scenarios, the driver does not experience the
notifications mentioned. If Active Side Guard Assist (ASGA) is disabled,
the auditory warnings do not occur for vehicles or road users. In
any situation, braking only occurs when vehicles or road users are
detected in the tractor zone. The system will not brake for vehicles
or road users in the trailer zone.
Table 1,
Common Scenarios for Warnings While SGA2 and Trailer Assist
are Activated
Warning Scenarios
Driver Experience
Moving road
user detected along side the vehicle and trailer.
An amber SGA2
warning lamp in the Mirror Camera A-Pillar screen activates and the
ICU displays the appropriate caution telltale.
Moving detected
while turning.
If the driver signals or steers to the passenger-side
and there is a risk of collision with a road user, the red SGA2 warning
lamp in the Mirror Camera A-Pillar screen flashes for a few seconds,
a warning tone sounds, and the appropriate SGA2 warning telltale on
the driver display screen. After flashing, the red warning lamp stays
on as long as there is a risk of a collision.
If the vehicle
is moving at urban speeds and equipped, ASGA automatically applies
the brakes.
Limitations
to detection of risk to the trailer's back corner while turning.
SGA2 and ASGA does not react to stationary objects. If the driver
steers to the passenger-side there is a risk of collision without
notification when the end of the trailer and its bumper reaches a
stationary object.
Moving object
detected by vehicle sensor before a lane change.
If a moving
vehicle or road user is in SGA2 monitoring range when a driver signals
or steers to the passenger-side, an amber warning lamp activates in
the Mirror Camera A-Pillar screen and the appropriate SGA2 caution
telltale appears on the driver display screen.
If there is a
risk of collision, the red warning lamp in the Mirror Camera A-Pillar
screen flashes, a warning tone sounds, and the appropriate SGA2 warning
telltale appears on the driver display screen. The red warning lamp
stops flashing after a few seconds but stays on as long as there is
a risk of a collision.
Moving vehicle
or road user detected by trailer sensor before a lane change.
If there is a risk of collision with a stationary vehicle or road
suer when turning, the red warning lamp in the Mirror Camera A-Pillar
screen flashes, a warning tone sounds, and the appropriate SGA2 warning
telltale appears on the driver display screen. The red warning lamp
stops flashing after a few seconds but stays on as long as there is
a risk of a collision.
