Hysteresis Menu Navigation and Operation
Warning: Drivers are responsible for safe and alert vehicle operation, including during the use of cruise control and the IPM application. Failure to use normal braking techniques when IPM is active could result in personal injury and vehicle damage.
To adjust the cruise control and IPM settings on a vehicle equipped with an instrumentation control unit (either an ICUC/ICC5), use the quick access button on the right steering pod to navigate to the ‘Hysteresis’ menu under ‘Vehicle Settings’. To adjust the settings on a vehicle equipped with an ICC5, select ‘Modify’ on the ‘Cruise Control’ pop-up for Hysteresis settings or select ‘Intelligent Powertrain Management’ from the ‘Settings’ menu. From the ‘Hysteresis’ or ‘Modify Cruise Control’ menu, drivers can adjust the overspeed and underspeed (see the chapter on Instruments), access the ‘IPM Menu’ (on an ICUC), and configure the following settings:
-
Terrain Descent: This number equates to how many miles per hour over the set speed the vehicle can go while descending a grade.
-
Terrain Dip Coast: This number equates to how many miles per hour over the set speed in addition to the terrain descent value the vehicle can go while moving though a dip or valley.
-
Terrain Hill: This number equates to how many miles per hour under the set speed the vehicle can go while ascending a grade.
-
Curve Value: This value reflects how aggressively the vehicle takes a corner while IPM is engaged, on a scale of 0-5. The lower the number, the slower the vehicle takes a corner.
-
Coast Value: This value reflects how much distance the IPM uses to brake as it approaches an IPM event, on a scale of 0-5. The lower the number, the closer to the event the system engages the brakes.
The driver can also select the IPM menu, which allows drivers to turn ON/OFF the IPM application, Curve Coasting, and Predictive Speed Limit. Turning OFF Curve Coasting stops the Curve Value setting, preventing the IPM from adjusting the speed the vehicle takes corners when IPM is engaged. Turning OFF Predictive Speed Limit stops the ability of the IPM to adjust the cruise set speed to match the road speed limit data from the 3D digital map database.
