ZF PowerLine Automatic Transmission

Automated and Automatic Transmissions: M2+ DM

Warning: There is a risk of accident due to unintended motion of the vehicle. Death or serious injury is possible. Familiarize yourself with ZF’s literature before operating a vehicle equipped with this transmission.

This vehicle may be equipped with a ZF PowerLine automatic transmission. Read the information below for information on stalk switch functionality and links to operator information provided by ZF.

Stalk Switch Operation with ZF PowerLine Automatic Transmission

Vehicles with automated or automatic transmissions use the multifunction stalk switch control shown in Fig. Automated/Automatic Transmission Shift Control and Fig. Engine Brake Positions. This control can be used to request manual shifts, change driving mode, and set engine brake levels. See Table Functionality, ZF PowerLine Automatic Transmission Shift Control for an overview of control functionality for the ZF PowerLine automatic tranmission.

Use the direction switch to request drive (D), neutral (N), reverse (R), or park (P), if applicable. See Fig. Automated/Automatic Transmission Shift Control, ref. A.

Park (P) Direction on the ZF PowerLine Automatic Shift Control

The automatic shift control for the ZF PowerLine may be equipped with a park (P) direction, shown in Fig. Automated/Automatic Transmission Shift Control, ref. A. This position places the transmission in neutral and engages the park pawl of the transmission. Operators can use park (P) with the parking brake when turning the engine on or off, to check vehicle accessories, or to operate the engine in idle.

Note: The park pawl is not a substitute for applying the parking brake. Always use the parking brake when the driver is not in direct control of the vehicle.
